I was brand new when I created the Publication: The Self Hack. The idea was old, and it’s a brand and date I call it a niche…? I hate that word—I strongly discourage writers to limit themselves to one ‘niche’ solely because you’ll gain better SEO. Yet, nevertheless, this is kind of what a publication is for. But, that doesn’t bother me too much as The Self Hack isn’t restrained to one, two, or even three topics.

I have been a one person-solo-team for the most part. I have one other awesome writer-Griffin-but he’s young and in college. I unfortunately, he doesn’t have the time right is to contribute more to the hack.

Anyway, the reason I’m commenting on my own publication is because we (I) have made many changes and updates as I’ve become more accustomed to how this all works and The Self Hack is finding its fan base and footing among the community.

Expect for one issue—one I’ve taken up with Medium multiple times and one they finally seem to be fixing at long last—when I updated and revamped the Publication, it would only show the new, updated version on the Browser/Computer based Medium.

As for mobile app and sometimes even using Safari (for all my fellow iPhone users out there), the updates would not show.

But this website—toppub.xyz is an amazing site. Truly. It’s remarkable how Medium itself has issues with keeping up with updated versions of content created by their customers and consumers (and creators, of course), but this website I’ve barely head off until recently has more information about the Medium Community and Publications than anywhere else I’ve looked.

I just wanted to thank and congratulate whoever made this site—wether by a team or a solo mission—it’s great and provides unparalleled value.

I made this publication because I got rejected by 3 low-level publications. It broke my heart as THEY were the ones who added ME to their writing team.

When they add you, (by they I mean a few big pubs—not all by a long shot), they sometimes have an alterer motive.

I won’t bad mouth certain Pubs here, but I will say this: Notice that some Pubs have thousands of “writers” and a similar number of of “followers”—who are likely their own “writers” who were so happy they have been offered a spot, finally feeling a part of something bigger than themselves, so they naturally started following the Publication that reached out to THEM. These writers never asked, they were approached!

All I’m trying to say is that I don’t do that Shit. I’d rather have ONE follower rather than drives of people who done read my work. Or worse, trick people into following me because I send them a message talking about how great their work is and “We’d love to have you on our writing staff!
